Updated: Apr 25

In a remarkable achievement for the local education community, six students from Horizon's English Language Learners (ELL) program have been selected to perform at the prestigious Arts & Language Festival in Chicago this May.

The selected performers include Queen, Miella, Phaissa, Violett, and Gabrielle, who will present a traditional Haitian dance performance. Additionally, student Claranelle Ateatsa will showcase her vocal talents as a solo performer at the festival.

This selection represents a significant milestone for our ELL program. These students have demonstrated exceptional dedication to preserving and celebrating their cultural heritage while excelling in their academic pursuits.

The Arts & Language Festival, scheduled for May 17th in Chicago, is renowned for highlighting diverse cultural expressions and promoting multicultural education in schools across the nation. This year's festival will feature performances from selected students representing various cultural backgrounds and languages.

The students' selection for this prestigious event underscores Horizon and Concept School's commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment where students' cultural identities are celebrated and nurtured. Their participation in the festival not only recognizes their artistic talents but also serves as an inspiration to fellow students in the ELL program.

Community members interested in supporting these young performers or learning more about the festival can contact the school's ELL Department for additional information.
