Horizon Columbus High recently hosted a major STEM science event at COSI in Columbus. Regional Concept schools from Cincinnati and Dayton joined various Columbus students in the CONSEF Regional 2025. Dear Participants, Judges, Volunteers, and Supporters,
The 2025 Science Fair was a huge success! On February 20, 2025, we witnessed an incredible display of scientific curiosity, problem-solving, and collaboration from students across eight schools in South Ohio.
With 171 students showcasing their projects, 41 judges providing expert evaluations, and over 80 dedicated volunteers, this event truly reflected the power of STEM education and community engagement.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed—students, educators, judges, community partners, and volunteers—for making this event an inspiring experience! Huge shoutout to Ms. Hicks, Mr. Ince and others for their work on make this happen. Mr. Ince says "A special thank you to our STEM Coordinator and mentor, Ms. Hicks, for leading our STEM competitions every year with extraordinary success and dedication. I also want to shout to our hardworking STEM mentors—Mrs. Slusher, Mr. Rahmet, Mr. Winegar, Ms. Tahir, Mr. Caliskan, Mrs. Pathan, Mr. Aytekin, and Ms. Rivas—who dedicated countless hours working with their students on independent research and design projects. This is the first STEM fair of the year. The mentors will continue to work with students closely to fine tune their projects for CONSEF, district and state science fairs. I wish them all the best!!" Ms. Hicks says "I first want to start by taking a moment to show my appreciation for all the staff who helped with this event in various ways. We could not have made this event successful without all your help. I would again like to thank Mr. Zengince for allowing the whole staff to work the event! Moreover, thank you to Mr. Ince for helping with all the staff assignments for the day, since I was busy with preparing the students :)
The students truly had a great experience and this event allowed them to practice and prepare for future competitions.
