Central Ohio Educator Receives Distinguished Global Education Award

In a celebration of educational excellence, the Columbus Council on World Affairs has awarded its prestigious Global Educator of the Year award to Mr. Oktay Ince, Assistant Principal of Academics/STEM at Horizon Science Academy.


The announcement came during the 2024 Global Scholar Diploma Graduation & Take Action Fair at Otterbein University, where Mr. Ince addressed an audience of more than 1,000 students and educators from across the greater Columbus region.


"Global education is not just about learning facts—it's about building bridges between cultures and preparing our students for a connected future," Mr. Ince shared during his acceptance speech.


Jessica Flowers, Director of Education at the Columbus Council on World Affairs, praised Mr. Ince's contributions: "His dedication to preparing students for success in our interconnected world exemplifies the very essence of global education."

The ceremony also marked the launch of new scholarship opportunities for Global Scholars graduates through Otterbein University, further strengthening the pathway for students pursuing international education.


Under Mr. Ince's leadership, his school has seen remarkable growth in both STEM initiatives and international education programs, setting new standards for global education in central Ohio.
